Questions ~ Rainer Maria Rilke

Questions ~ Rainer Maria Rilke

“Have patience with everything unresolved in your heart
and to try to love the questions themselves
as if they were locked rooms or books written in a very foreign language.

Don’t search for the answers, which could not be given to you now,
because you would not be able to live them.
And the point is, to live everything.

Live the questions now.
Perhaps then, someday far in the future,
you will gradually, without even noticing it,
live your way into the answer.”

~ Rainer Maria Rilke in “Letters to a Young Poet”

What a very timely quote! I am currently filled with questions I cannot find a nice clear cut answer to and have recently given up on trying too hard to get one. Rather I’m trying to go with the flow and see how things turn out.

Thanks for sharing that quote 🙂

Hey Allysse, thanks for popping in and glad to hear the quote resonates with you! Sometimes the questions might be more important than the answers. They may serve as “impetus” as well, so the urge to find the answer(s) may result in losing track of the actual objective. As you said, go with the flow; remember the question and you may recognize the answer once it shaped… 🙂 Good luck and take care!
